By Tom Parker Its one of the biggest icons at the Disney Parks, but few actually know what meant the construction of it!
Space Mountain launched its first ride on January 15, 1975 at Magic Kingdom, the ride then became one of the top Disney attractions around the world, also one of the most popular among guests. The ride was built in 1977 at Disneyland Park. Have a look at this amazing construction photos of the first ever Space Mountain. by Jennifer Fickley-Baker, Social Media Manager for Disney Parks Blog Walking through New Fantasyland and watching the evolution of Seven Dwarfs Mine Train has been fascinating, seeing such a large attraction rise up from scaffolding and into a beautiful mountain covered with lush trees and colorful wildflowers. Let’s take a quick photo walk around it today with these shots. Earlier this year, Walt Disney Imagineering shared that two props (Big animatronic Vultures) from the former Snow White’s Scary Adventures attraction had been placed in Seven Dwarfs Mine Train as a nod to the previous attraction. Those vultures can now be seen at the top of the first big “climb” in the attraction, surrounded by stacks of crates – containing newly mined jewels, perhaps?
By Alicia M. Magic Kingdom's Central Plaza or most commonly known as the "Castle Hub" will be getting a complete transformation and expansion. The Central Plaza will receive a second ring, adding more walkways, new viewing space for the Fireworks shows, expanded sitting area for Casey's Corner and The Plaza Restaurants.
Earlier this year, Disney announced Disney Springs, the exciting, multi-year transformation of Downtown Disney. If you’ve visited recently, you know that the expansion has officially begun. While we’ve been getting a lot of questions, one of the most popular topics seems to be parking: Will there be more spots? Where will they be located? And where should guests park in the meantime? Read on, because I’ve got answers … Yes, more parking is coming! The best part: parking will continue to be complimentary. Work recently started on the first of two multi-level parking garages; it is expected to be complete in late 2014 near AMC Theatres and Splitsville Luxury Lanes. A second garage, closer to World of Disney, is set to open in 2016. Additionally, Disney will continue to offer surface parking. Visiting Soon? (I hope so – because right now, you can enjoy over 70 venues filled with ways to delight you day and night!). I’ve got a few tips to help you make the most of your experience:
Want a few more of my favorite secrets? Arrive before 5 p.m.; look for parking at Entrance 5, behind Cirque du Soleil in lots O, P & Q (it’s a lot closer than you think!); and lastly, don’t forget you can always take the complimentary Boat Transportation between the West Side, Pleasure Island and the Marketplace, weather permitting.
I know I’ve just shared a lot of information – check out the map above for more. Now that you know the latest, I hope you’re as excited as I am. I look forward to seeing you out and about at Downtown Disney soon! Disney is modifying the Guest Assistance Card Program for Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts.
Disney's modifying the current Guest Assistance Card program, which provides access to attractions for guests with disabilities, so they can continue to serve the guests who truly need it. The new program is designed to provide the special experience guests have come to expect from Disney. This is also expected to enable Disney to help control abuse with the current program that was, unfortunately, widespread and growing at an alarming rate. The new Disability Access Service (DAS) Card will replace the Guest Assistance Card. Guests will be able to request a Disability Access Service Card at Guest Relations, and they will receive a return time for attractions based on the current wait time. With that said, Disney has long recognized and accommodated people with different needs. Guests can visit Guest Relations to discuss their individual situation, and Disney Cast Members will continue to provide assistance that is responsive to their unique circumstances. Meg Crofton, president Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Operations, United States and France, recently shared a letter of reassurance and continuing commitment to organizations representing the autism and disabled communities. We wanted to share her words with our Blog readers, as well. Click here for additional information about the new program.
